What is prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is a natural procedure designed to heal soft tissue injuries. This process helps the body’s own method of repairing itself from a wound. By using prolotherapy, the body is able to grow new connective tissue in damaged or weakened areas. Also, prolotherapy provides a less invasive option that lasts longer than more traditional approaches such as medications, surgery or joint replacement.

How does prolotherapy work?

When tissue is injured, inflammation automatically occurs. Since ligaments, tendons and joints all have poor blood supplies, the healing process is often incomplete. This can lead to connective tissue loosening and becoming weak. Connective tissue also contains many nerve endings. When these nerve endings are damaged, they may cause the injured individual to feel immense soreness.

Prolotherapy is a successful way to treat chronic pain. This procedure, which can be performed in an office environment, involves injecting natural solutions that contain a concentrated sugar substance into the affected area of the body. The result of this injection is an inflammation that fuels the growth of healthy tissue by increasing the area’s blood supply. Because the tendons and ligaments can now heal and even become stronger, any chronic pain is minimized.

Is natural healing better than medications?

Anti-inflammatory medications such as Motrin may interfere with the body’s natural ability to heal , on the other hand, provide long lasting results by encouraging the body to restore itself without any dependence on oral medications.

It’s used for musculoskeletal pain or injury which is either unresolved after eight weeks, or (if earlier) where enhanced healing is desired. Prolotherapy works by raising growth factor levels or effectiveness to promote tissue repair or growth. It can be used years after the initial pain or problem began, as long as the person is healthy. Because prolotherapy works to repair weak and painful joint areas, it is a long-term solution, rather than a temporary measure such as drugs or Cortisone.
